A Vibrant City of 10,000

Montgomery is a vibrant, high-quality, family-oriented city of 10,000 that embraces its future while valuing the traditions and history of its past.

Founded in 1795, Montgomery was known for generations as a stopping point along the old "3-C" Highway (Cincinnati-Columbus-Cleveland). It is home to wonderfully quaint old buildings that are a reminder of a quieter, slower time in our community. The City's downtown Heritage District consists of over 120 unique shops, services and dining establishments that are surrounded by historic landmark properties, classically designed streetlamps and brick walkways, and a general ambiance of days gone by. The community has 33 properties that have been designated as Montgomery Landmarks, eight of which are on the National Register for Historic Places.

Today's Montgomery is an integral part of the Cincinnati Metropolitan area and features beautiful neighborhoods, excellent community parks , top-quality services, and a nationally recognized school system. Montgomery also values its diverse business community that provides services and retail opportunities to residents and visitors alike. A variety of religious institutions and active community and civic organizations also provide opportunities and services to our citizens.

Take the time to review the information provided on their community web site. Whether you visit  electronically or in person, we believe that you will come to love and enjoy Montgomery as much as we do.

Montgomery Heritage

The community of Montgomery began in the spring of 1795 when six sturdy and resolute families from Orange County, New York, set out on a journey that brought them to what is today Montgomery, Ohio, The families were all related with names that have become commonplace in our community. There were the three Felter sisters and their husbands Cornelius Snider, the leader; Jacob Roosa; and Nathaniel Terwilliger along with three Felter brothers and their wives.
